PTC Manufacturing Work Instructions Research Study -  August 5 - 16, 2024

If you author, deliver, or consume work instructions for the factory, we'd like to talk to you!  We are conducting remote research interviews with people whose day-to-day tasks involve manufacturing work instructions. We'd like to learn about factory and operator expectations for work instructions with regards to 3D and 2D content, content delivery, and ease of use.

 

We'd also like to understand your end-to-end workflow, from preparing instructions and documentation to the actual use of instructions to build a finished product. We are also interested in any goals and challenges you may have working with work instructions for the factory floor.

 

We'll also be asking some usability questions regarding new PTC software for factory work instructions. All research data is confidential and collected with the sole purpose of improving this new solution offering from PTC.

Webasto Seeks to Enhance Efficiency and Streamline Operations with Windchill Upgrade

Company Overview
Webasto, an international system provider to the mobility industry, manufactures roof systems and electrification solutions, including batteries and thermal management. With over 50 locations and more than 16,800 employees, Webasto has a strong presence in all major automotive markets worldwide. In 2022, the company achieved sales of €4.4 million.
 
Business Challenges
Webasto undertook a significant upgrade of its Windchill system, transitioning from an unsupported version to a long-term supported state. This involved reassembling a fragmented Windchill codebase that had been managed by various consultants. Additionally, Webasto adopted a step-by-step approach towards a SaaS solution, streamlining or eliminating in-house customizations to simplify the transition.

With the help of partner TT PSC, Webasto successfully upgraded its Windchill system in three phases over four months, focusing on removing or simplifying in-house customizations to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
